William MOORE (born 1776 in Buckinghamshire, UK) and his wife Ann DOVE (born 1772 in UK), left England in 1819 onboard the ship "Zoroaster" bound for South Africa. William and Ann were married on 28 October 1792 at St. Martin's-in-the-field Church, Westminster, London, UK. Their children, William junior (born 8 September 1795 in London, UK) and Eleanor (born 1801), were with them.

William junior married Margaret WILLIAMSON on 25 August 1817 at St. Martin's-in-the-field Church, Westminster, London, UK. Margaret also made the trip out. The MOOREs were part of the 1820 British Settlers (in Wait's party). Margaret died soon after arriving in South Africa, and William junior then married Petronella Catharina TERBLANCHE (great-great-granddaughter of the French Huguenot, Estienne TERBLANS who arrived in South Africa in 1688) at the Dutch Reformed Church in Uitenhage, Cape Colony on 02 July 1827. A daughter, Petronella Catharina MOORE (born 11 November 1828), married Frederick Daniel Christian LEHMKUHL (born 06 September 1822 in Germany, arrived in South Africa circa 1840) on 20 February 1846 in Port Elizabeth.

Petronella and Frederick had 8 children, one of whom was John Henry LEHMKUHL (born 1874 in Beaconsfield, Kimberley). John Henry married Anna Johanna COETZEE (descendant of Dirk COETZEE from Kampen, Netherlands, arrived in South Africa in 1679) in Steynsrus, Orange Free State. They had 2 children, one being John Henry LEHMKUHL  (born 12 May 1931 in Matatiele, Natal), who married Elaine Mary SMITH in Johannesburg, Transvaal and they had four children.

The town of Willowmore, in the Cape, was founded by Frederick and one of his brothers-in-law.
