Members
from HMCS Calgary and the PROHL share an
evening of hockey and friendship
March 26th 2006
Last
night in the PROHL it was a special night with the crew of HMCS
Calgary. Leading off with a ceremonial puck drop with the
Captain of HMCS Calgary. Unfortunately the
PROHL played the roll of poor host and defeated the Navy boys
10-5. It was a very fast paced game with few whistles and plenty
of action.
The pro-Calgary crowd did what they could to
encourage their team but in the end the host team made of players
from La Gondola and the Plaqhawks were just too much.
In the second game, HMCS Calgary players stayed
on the ice and took revenge against a combined Entire
Automotive/Rupert Wood n Steel team downing the hosts 8-6. in
another fast paced game.
In the end all players stated how much they
enjoyed the games and both look forward to meeting again in the
future. Perhaps for the benefit of a local charity.
March 23rd 2006
Entire Automotive downed the Plaqhawks 13-7.
March 19th 2006
Sunday night in the PROHL La Gondola continued
there winning ways against the Plaqhawks, hanging on to win 11-9.
In the second game Rupert Wood n Steel was up
against Entire Automotive. The final score was not avail at this
time.
March 17th 2006
Last night in the PROHL the Plaqhawks defeated
Rupert Wood n Steel 6-4
March 14th 2006
Last night in the PROHL La Gondola did it again.
They beat Entire Automotive 7-4.
Kitimat Tournament Results
The Prince Rupert Puccaneers travelled to
Kitimat over the weekend for the Kitimat Oldtimers Hockey
Tournament.

On Friday night they got off to a great
start downing Kitimat 'Ol Keg 6-4. The Pucs were leading 2-1 when
'Ol Keg tied it up at 2. Half
way through the 1st period. It did not stay
tied long as Rupert took the puck from the ensuing face-off and
scored retaking the lead for
good. Scoring was spread out among the team.
Saturday's game verses Telkwa Roofing from
Smithers was a different story. Rupert came out flat and were down
4-0 at the
intermission. The Pucs tried to make
adjustments during the break but were unable to mount a comeback.
Final score 9-2.
In the Pucs final game they played the
Orcas (Kitimat). This game truly tested the Puccaneers ability to
gel as a unit. The early going was back and forth with both
goalies coming up with big saves to keep things scoreless. Then at
the 8 minute mark the Puc's Rob McDonald broke free up the middle
with a perfect pass from linemate Garin Gardiner and slid his shot
under a sprawling Orca goalie. The lead was short lived. The Orcas
were able to tie it up 5 minutes later after picking up the puck,
from an earlier toe save by Puc's goalie Tom Hogman and depositing
it into a wide open net. The first period ended, 1-1.
The second period opened with some sloppy
play by both teams. Rupert was first to take advantage as
defensemen Dave"Ralph" Dyball carried the puck down the left side
and snapped a bullet shot low to the glove side on the Orca
goalie. But again the lead was short lived and the Orcas were able
to tie. At the midpoint of the period Rupert had the pressure on
and a quick cross-ice pass was one timed by Darren Bell, putting
Rupert up 3-2.
At this point in the game the Orcas play
took on a more determined edge. They were rewarded with yet
another tying goal and continued to keep the pressure on and with
8 minutes to go took their first lead in the game 4-3.
Now it was the Puccanneers turn to play
from behind and they appeared to up for the task. After peppering
the Orcas goalie with shots and hemming them in for long
stretches, the Puc's got a tying goal of their own setting the
game up for a frenzied finish.
With the score now tied 4-4 and less than 3
minutes to go it looked like that was who it was going to end.
Then the inevitable happened. Rupert defensemen Dave Dyball got
called for body-checking after an Orca ran into him, lost his
balance a slid heavily into the boards. The Orcas were now like a
team of sharks smelling blood in the water. They could almost
taste a winning goal coming up. But now it was their turn to take
a penalty, this one for goalie interference. With teams playing 4
on 4 Rupert got the puck down into the Orcas end and set up a
perfect one-timer to take the lead 5-4 with only 1 minute to go.
The dramatic finish was on.
The Orcas pulled their goalie for the extra
attacker and were able to gain the Puc's zone and with 5 seconds
left got a clear shot on goal only to have Hogman do the splits
kicking away the puck.
That win gave the Puccaneers 3rd place in
the "B" Division.

Just to update the last game.
In the second game Entire Automotive came out

Mike Fox who stole the show in the third period making numerous
key saves!
Last night in the PROHL
the 1st game had La Gondola taking on Rupert Wood n Steel. WnS was
determined to exact revenge for an earlier loss. They did and then

this year.
In the second game, La Gondola jumped out

Automotive Services(A&G Autobody) Tuesday night at 9:30.
November 3rd 2005
Thursday nights action in the PROHL had a
short benched A&G Autobody accept help from the opposition Rupert
Wood n Steel. Teams were split up and the game played.
While it was a good night for exercise for
the forwards, the goalies had a tough time of it.
Lets just say in the end the forwards had
lots of goals and the goalies each had a couple of great saves.
The league now takes a short break and is all
ready for the 24th Annual Invitational/6th Annual Carlos
Paolinelli Memorial Tournament.
Teams from Saskatchewan, Smithers, Stewart,
QCI, Kitimat and Terrace will face off here in Prince Rupert

Last night La Gondola Hamburgers took on A&G

hands many times. Back up goaltender Clint Adams played his best
game of the season, despite the high score, back-stopping La
Gondola to a 9-8 win. A&G continue to be hard-pressed to get into
the win column. Next action for the PROHL is Thursday night at
9:30 with Rupert Wood n Steel taking on the PlaqHawks.

In the first games of the PROHL
last night Rupert Wood n Steel came up on the short end of a
9-8 score against La Gondola.
The second game had A&G
Autobody against the PlaqHawks. The under staffed PlaqHawks prevailed
having only one spare. The crisp passing PlaqHawks took a
early lead in the first period which they never relinquished. PlaqHawk
goaltender Mike Fox's third period pad stacked save on A&G's
top line ensured the 13 to 3 victory.

New Schedule now
available online
October 15th 2005
This is the
most current league schedule.
It begins on Oct 16th.
Please destroy any older versions to
avoid confusion.
In Thursday nights action, A&G Autobody
took on the Plaqhawks. The game was a fast paced affair with
lots of crisp passing and smooth skating on both sides.
In a slight twist any penalties were
awarded as penalty-shots instead of the usual 3 minutes in the
box. A&G took advantage of this and were able to keep pace with
the high flying Plaqhawks. With less than a minute left in the
game, the Plaqhawks were awarded a penalty-shot. Former "KINGS"
netminder Jerry Kurka robbed
Butch "DUH-O" Duffy to keep the affair
tied.
From the ensuing face-off, A&G took the
puck down and scored to win the game with only 4 seconds left.
Afterwards, both teams decided that the
idea of penalty-shots in stead of actual penalties was not a
good idea. Both teams stated the game was a lot of fun to play.
That's what old-timers is all about.
Why not give it a try.

Attention All Players
Tuesday night @ 9:30 will be our third ice-time of the new season.
The executive would like to see as many players as have signed up
participating in tonight's
game.
If possible, the league will hold the
team draft. Those players interested in assisting with the draft
are asked to contact Tom Hogman.
It is anticipated that 3 teams will start
to play regular games starting Sunday night.
The executive would like to encourage all
gentlemen 35yrs or older interested in hockey to give our league a
try as we are only 10-15 players short of a 4th team.
That 4th team would balance out our
schedule and enable us to maintain our ice-times.
