Social Studies/History Geography Curriculum Resources is a site from Ontario. It has lessons for History and Geography, Grades 7 and 8. The Grade 7 lesson plan that might be useful is Conflict and Change, and it also has links on the Upper and Lower Canada Rebellions. The Grade 8 lesson plans are Confederation, The Development of Western Canada, Canada: A Changing Society. The lessons may not be age appropriate but they can modified for Grade 10, and the selection of resource links are very good (i.e. CPR,Confederation documents, etc.)

Social Studies Links is a site from a BC teacher that contains links for Social Studies research, maps, bibliographies and essay writing. There are also lesson plans for Social Studies 10 and other subjects.

1854 Reciprocity Treaty is an online document from the Open Learning Agency.

BC Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs: Historical References is a brief history of BC starting in 1763 and continuing until 1997.

Canada's Aboriginal Digital Collections is a collection of web sites on First Nations images and information that were created by youth, and sponsored by Industry Canada. There are sites contained in the following subjects: Art and Artists, Business Profiles, Community Profiles, Culture, Economic Development, Education, Entrepreneurship, History, Language, Natural Resources, Research Materials, Tourism, Traditional Knowledge, and Veterans. There are a variety of sties here that may prove useful to teachers and students.

Canadian Museum of Civilization: First People and Archaeology Halls contains the following online exhibits in the First Peoples Hall: Stones Unturned; Threads of the Land: Clothing Traditions from Three Indigenous Cultures; Wave Eaters: Native Watercraft in Canada; The Inuvialuit of the Western Arctic; Storytelling: The Art of Knowledge; Legends of Our Times: Native Ranching and Rodeo Life on the Plains and Plateau, Where Sea and Land Meet: Historical Northwest Coast Native settings in the art of Gordon Miller and Bill Holm; From Time Immemorial: Tsimshian Prehistory; The Haida: Children of Eagle and Raven; Iqqaipaa: Celebrating Inuit Art, 1948-1970; Emergence from the Shadow: First Peoples' Photographic Perspectives; Moccasins. There are are also several related sites in the Archaeology section.

Confederation is a digital project from the National Library of Canada on the path to Confederation, and the influence of the American Revolution on that path. The site contains articles on the following topics: The Territorial Evolution of Canada, Timeline: Britain, Canada and the Civil War, 1861-65 , The Path to Confederation, Towards Confederation: Lower Canada (1791-1842), Fear of Annexation by the United States, Raids and Skirmishes, The Blacks, Antislavery and the Underground Railway, Confederate Operations in Canada, Some Little-Known Stories, Confederation 1867, Postwar Tensions. The site also contains historical documents and a Canadian Confederation Bibliography.

Early Canadiana Online (ECO) is a "collaborative research project to provide Web access to a digital library of primary sources in Canadian history from the first European contact to the late 19th century. The collection is particularly strong in the subject areas of literature, women's history, travel and exploration, native studies and the history of French Canada. The collection is made up of images of the pages in the selected books and pamphlets. The site contains a search engine.

First Nations in BC is an online gallery from the BC Archives Time Machine. It presents images of "historical First Nations life including clothing, housing, food gathering and preparation." The gallery is divided into the following sections: Cultural Areas, People of the Northwest Coast, People of the Interior, European Contact, Confederation to Present, West Cast Moving Image Gallery, Interior Moving Image Gallery, Teacher's Corner, and Books and Sources.

Grade 12 (Canadian) History Internet Resources for High School Teachers in Saskatchewan comes from the University of Saskatchewan, and provides a good selection of Canadian History links. Categories of links that might be of interest to grade 10 teachers are: New France, Rebellions of 1837-1838, Lord Durham and the Union Act, European Life in British North America, The Road to Democracy, Confederation, Red River, Metis Resistance and Rebellion, From Sea to Sea, Riel in Saskatchewan, The Treaties and the Indian Act, National Policy, Transcontinental Railways, Immigration on the Prairies, and Suffragettes and the Struggle for Equality.

Hamilton Public Library: The History of Louis Riel (And the Rebellion of 1885) is a nice site that contains primary documents related to Riel such as his trial speech, photographs, and newspaper accounts. The site is easy to navigate and easy to understand.

Northwest Resistance Degitization Project A database of materials held by the University of Saskatchewan Libraries and the University archives contains a database, and a page on the 1885 resistance with short biographies and a chronology of events.

TimeLinks: The historical web site about Manitoba in the decade from 1910 to 1920 has several sections that may be of interest to teachers. The site was designed by a school district in cooperation with a university in Manitoba. The Photo Library contains 2000+ images that were created between 1900 and 1925. The Reference sections contains a Subject Index of topics, including a good amount of biographical information on people who contributed to the development of Manitoba in a variety of ways.

Teaching & Learning About Canada is a site for teachers and students that provides information and links on Canadian Geography, History, Politics, Society, Culture, Wildlife, Time Zones, Graphs, Maps, etc. There is a map of Canada that allows you to click on a province to get links . about that province. This is a good page to start looking for Canadian links especially history links which I know are still difficult to find on the Internet.
