AASL:
Resource Guides for School Library Media Program Development
contains an alphabetized topic list of books, journal articles,
Web sites, and other media.
Capitalizing
on the School Library's Potential to Positively Affect Student
Achievement by Dr. Gary
Hartzell was presented at The White House (June 4, 2002). It contains
an excellent list of resources (online and print) on the importance
of the school library.
Children's
Literature Web Guide contains online resources for children's
literature. Some of what you can find on this site are: book awards,
bestsellers, readers' theatre, book lists, journals and book reviews,
storytelling, discussion groups, publishers and booksellers.
CyberBee
is a site from Linda C. Joseph, a library media specialist, who
also writes articles under a column of the same name for the journal,
Multimedia
Schools. The site contains useful links and information
on the use of the Internet and technology in schools. The site
is divided into the following sections: Curriculum Ideas, Research
Tools, How Tos, Treasure Hunts, Web Links, CyberBee Articles,
and Conference Notes. There's a lot of useful information here,
especially, if you are just getting started trying to figure out
how to integrate technology into your curriculum.
IASL:
Links
to School Library Resources has a ton of links in a variety
of categories including Associations, Education Resources, Information
Skills, School Library Automation, Reading Promotion, Resources
for Kids, Listservs, and more.
Internet
School Library Media Center is
a wonderful site with links in everything school library-related,
but its one drawback is that the links are not annotated. The
Library Media Page is excellent, and there are also resources
in other subject areas so you can pass this link along to other
teachers as well.
Librarians'
Resource Centre is the Toolbox from the Toronto
Chapter of the Special Libraries Association. This Toolbox contains
links in a variety of categories such as Searching the Internet,
Directories, News Links, Business & Finance, Engineering,
Science & Technology, Canadian Resources, Professional Development,
and Technical Resources.
LION:
Librarians Information Online Network is a great
site for school librarians from the School District of Philadelphia.
Some of what you can find on the site is Automation, Calendar
of Events, Cataloging Resources, Issues (Promotion, Scheduling,
Facilities, Staffing), Lesson Plans, Forums, Ready Reference,
and more. This site is well worth a visit.
Saskatoon
Public School Division:
Teacher Librarian Resources has a small list of links
that might be of interest.
School-Libraries.org:
Online
Resources for School Librarians has annotated resource
links in General Resources, Curriculum and Technology Planning,
Learning and Teaching With the Web, Web Gateways to Information,
Information Literacy and Library Skills, Professional Associations
and Orgaization, and Books, Book Reviews and Reading Resources.
This is an excellent source for resources because of the variety
and the annotations.
SchoolNet:
LibraryNet!
is a cooperative venture between a number of library-related
organizations and Industry Canada. I haven't spent a great deal
of time exploring this site, but it might prove useful.
Southern
Ontario Library Service: Librarians'
Library of Links has a large number of really good links
on the following pages: Cybersites
for Children, Internet
Searching Tools, Professional
Information, and Ready
Reference Sources.
Stetson Middle
School Library:
Resources for School Libraries
has a great variety of links in Learning and Teaching, Information
Access, Program Administration, Technology, Education and Employment,
and Continuing Education.
